The Truth About True Worship
1. John 4:19-24
When we learn to worship God then we will get a revelation of who He is and who we are and what we have in Him.
Only true worshippers can worship the Father in Spirit and in truth. If every worshipper was "sincere" then Jesus would not have had to mention the true worshippers.
What does God mean by worshipping Him in Spirit and in Truth:
Isa. 29:13 God doesn't just want lip service from us. He wants worship from a sincere heart(spirit). If you say one thing with your mouth but think something else in your heart then you are lying.
Romans 12:1 We are to offer ourselves as living sacrifices. This is a SPIRITUAL act. This way we are worshiping God spirit. \
If we sing songs that are not based on the Word of God then we are not worshipping God in Spirit and in truth. God's Word is TRUTH (Jn 17:17). Any song for or about God that has no foundation in Scripture is based on a lie. You will not get a revelation of God based on a lie. You will not get a revelation of who you are and what you have and your potential in Christ based on a lie.
Daniel 3:4-12 If you must have music in order to worship God then you are not doing it by the spirit and it is based on a lie.
1 Cor. 3:16-17; 6:19-20 Our bodies are God's temple. A temple is a place of worship. Another reason why we are not limited to a physical location when we need to worship. We carry God's temple wherever we go.
*Sacred (1 Cor. 3:16-19) Dedicated or set apart for he service or worship of [God]; entitled to respect or reverance; highly valued and important. (Webster's)
2. Rev. 4:8-11
Worship derives from a compounding of two words: Worth-ship. When you worship God you are proclaiming His WORTHINESS. God alone is worthy to receive glory, honor and adoration.
Rev. 5:5, 8-14 We are told here why God is worthy to receive worship. The more you know your God the more you will know that He is worthy.
Only God is worthy to be worshipped. Satan wants your worship (Matthew 4:8- 10) as much as God does. However, Satan is a created being and a fallen angel. Creatures (and most especially fallen ones) have no worth of themselves. Therefore, Satan is not worthy to be worshipped. Only God is worthy.
Ezekial 28:11-16 Satan was once the "Anointed Cherub" but when he fell he lost that anointing (Read also Isa. 14:12-18). Christ means "The Anointed One". Christians mean "anointed ones". We have the Holy Spirit to direct our praise. See Acts 10:38
3. Matthew 15:21-28
King James Version verse 25: "Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
We can get much further with God by worship then we can by begging Him. If we want to see God do great things we must learn to balance our prayer requests with worship.
Notice that Jesus said that healing is the Children's bread. This implies ownership. This means that we have the right to partake of God's divine healing power for our physical ailments. If just "crumbs" was enough to heal this woman's daughter, imagine what a whole loaf will do.
4. 2 Chron. 20:18-26
Verse 18-20 When the odds were against Jehosophat and his people they began to worship God. When we worship then God is delighted to direct us and move in our situation. Worship is the highest demonstration of our faith in God.
When we engage in spiritual warfare with Satan and his demons we should not be satisfied with just a simple victory but we should also be ready to carry off the "plunder" (Matthew 12:29)
David Alsobrook on verse 26: Jehoshaphat named the place of victory "THE VALLEY OF BERACHAH" which means "the valley of blessing and prosperity." This valley had appeared to be a shadow of death extinction appeared unavoidable but God had changed it into a valley of blessing and prosperity..... Praise can turn your valley of despair into a valley of blessing.[1]
