God's Word Overcomes Worry


Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad. -Prov. 12:25 (NKJV)


1. Good – Some definitions


    1. Better than the usual or average kind. Right for the purpose. Pleasing or satisfying; enjoyable or happy. Helpful; that benefits. Thorough; complete. That which is good [to know good from evil]. A word spoken to show that one is pleased or satisfied. To carry out as a promise or boast. (Webster's New World Dictionary For Young Readers).

    2. Of the highest worth or reliability <his promise is as good as gold (Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary).


2. God's Word qualifies as being good - Hebrews 6:5; Jeremiah 15:16; 1 Kings 8:56


3. What worrying can do to a person - Job 3:25


4. There are specific promises in God's Word that overcomes worry.

    1. The promise of DIVINE PROVISION - Luke 11:22-32.

    2. The promise of God's GRACE extended towards you - 1 Pet. 5:6-7.

    3. The promise of ANSWERED PRAYER and peace to guard you - Phil. 4:6-8; Ps. 37:4-5

    4. The promise of Christ's REST - Matthew 11:28-30.

    5. The promise of being SUSTAINED - Ps. 55:22; Isa. 54:14.
