Bible Study On Proverbs 10

NOTE: This chapter was studied using the New King James, The Amplified, and The Living Bible.
 

1. What Wisdom Does

    A. It makes a father glad (v. 1).

    B. It gathers in the summer (v. 5).

    C. It will accept and obey commandments (v. 8).

    D. It gives discernment, skill, and godliness (v. 13).

    E. It will store up knowledge (v. 14).

    F. It restrains it's lips (v. 19).

    G. Fools die for lack of it (v. 21).

    H. It brings pleasure and revelation to a man of understanding (v. 23).

    I. It comes out of the mouth of righteous people (v. 31).
 

2. Blessings Of The Righteous

    A. Deliverance from death (v. 2).

    B. Will never famish (starve to death) (v. 3).

    C. Blessings are upon their head (v. 6).

        (1) Covered with blessings from head to foot (LB).

    D. Their memory is blessed (v. 7).

    E. They walk securely (v. 9).

    F. Their mouth is a well of life (v. 11).

        (1) Living truth in what he says (LB).

    G. Their labor leads to life (v. 16).

        (1) The good man's earnings advance the cause of righteousness (LB).

    H. Their tongue is choice silver (worth listening to) (v. 20).

    I. Their lips feed many (give good advice) (v. 21).

    J. Their desires will be granted (v. 24).

    K. They have an everlasting foundation (v. 25).

    L. Their hope is gladness (eternal happiness) (v. 28).

    M. God will be their strength and stronghold; He will protect them (v. 29).

    N. They will never be removed (will never lose God's blessings) (v.30).

    O. Their mouths bring forth skillful and godly wisdom to advise others (v. 31).

    P. They know what is acceptable and speak what is helpful (v. 32).
 

3. What God's Blessings will do.

    A. It makes one rich and there is no sorrow added to it (v. 22).

        (1) Read James 1:17 and compare these to Job 1:21-22.
 

4. What will the fear of the Lord do for you?

    A. It will prolong days (v. 27).

        (1) Compare to Ex. 23:25-26; Ps. 91:16; Prov. 3:1-2; Eph. 6:1-3; 1 Pet. 3:10.
 

5. The Irony Of The Wicked and Foolish.

    A. A grief to his mother (v. 1).

    B. Profits NOTHING (v.2).

    C. Desires are cast away (v. 3).
 

    D. He becomes poor and shameful (vv. 4-5, 15, 26).

    E. Violence covers his mouth (vv. 6, 11).

    F. His name will rot (v. 7).

    G. He will fall (vv. 8, 10).

    H. He will become known for his perverted ways (v. 9).

    I. He becomes full of sin (vv. 12, 16, 17-19, 23).

    J. His mouth is near destruction (vv. 14, 29).

    K. His heart is worth little (v. 20).

    L. He dies for lack of wisdom (vv. 21, 25, 27).

    M. His fears will come upon him (v. 24).

    N. Their expectations will perish (v. 28).

    O. They will not inhabit the earth (v. 30).

    P. Their tongues are perverse and will be cut off (vv. 31-32).
 

6. After studying this chapter, which would you rather have, wisdom, righteousness, and the fear of the Lord, or wickedness and foolishness? You will reap the results of your decision.
