SOME THINGS CHRISTIANS MUST REALIZE CONCERNIG PROSPERITY

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers." (3 John 2).

1. Christians must realize what true prosperity is (Psalms 23).

    1. Psalms 23 is just one of many Scriptures that tell us what true prosperity is. In it we see presence, protection, guidance, abundance, mercy, goodness and no lack.

    2. Some think that prosperity is just money. Being millionaires. They are sadly mistaken.

    3. Prosperity is a very spiritual thing. If we are not prospering spiritually we cannot expect to prosper physically (Gal. 5:22-23).

2. Christians must realize that POVERTY is a curse (Deut. 28:45-48; AMP).

    1. Deut. 28 explains that obedience brings blessings. Disobedience brings curses. Poverty is mentioned in the curses. (Prov. 13:18, 25).

    2. God has already dealt with the problem of poverty (2 Cor. 8:9; Col. 1:16-17).

    3. It is not wrong to have money, it is wrong for money to have you. (1 Tim. 6:10, 17-19).

3. Christians must realize that God does not prosper us to hoard up for ourselves (2 Cor. 9:6-13; Phil. 4:15-19).

    1. That which God gives us, He expects us to give as He has blessed us. (Deut. 16:17).

    2. God's desire is to use the blessings He gives to us to spread the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the earth. (Deut. 8:18).

    3. God has a great love for poor people and expects us to minister to them. (Prov. 14:21, 31; 19:17; 28:27; 29:7; 31:20).

4. Christians must realize that God has established laws of sowing and reaping in order to prosper us. (Gal. 6:7-10; Prov. 11:24).

    1. If we expect to receive the abundance of God we must be ready to give. (Luke 6:38; Mark 10:29-30).

    2. God has given the spiritual law of tithing to help us establish a giving of a percentage of our income unto Him. (Malachi 3:8-12; Prov. 3:9-10; Genesis 14:18-20).

5. Christians must realize that God prospers us in the Jobs that He's given us. (Deut. 2:7; 12:7; 14:28-29; 24:19.

    1. Laziness is the way to poverty. God expects us to work (Proverbs 12:24; 13:4, 11; 14:23; 2 Thess. 3:10).

    2. Joseph is a good example of God using our work to prosper us (Gen. 39:2-6, 20-23).

6. Christians must realize that one cannot live in sin and expect to prosper. (Proverbs 28:13).

    1. Good things are withheld from God's people because of sin. (Jer. 5:25).

    2. Sin is a hindrance to faith and prayer. These two essentials to the Christian life are vital to prosperity. (Isa. 59:1-2; 1 Peter 1:12).

7. Christians must realize that faith in God's Word is the essential to prosperity. (2 Chron. 20:20).

    1. Keeping God's word will always enable us to prosper spiritually, mentally, and physically (Deut. 29:9; Isa. 1:19).

    2. All that has been mentioned previously could not be possible without God's faith producing Word. Stand on the Word of God and see the results of prosperity in your life.
