I. God demands faith.

    1. God cannot be pleased apart from faith.

        a. Heb. 11:6; Rom. 14:23.

        b. If you desire to please God then this is the essential element.

    2. Lack of faith is what caused the fall of man.

        a. Gen. 2:15-17; 3:1-7; 1 Tim. 2:14.

        b. Disobedience is a lack of faith in God that can bring terrible consequences.

II. Faith and the Christian life.

    3. One cannot be saved apart from faith.

        a. Eph. 2:8-9; John 3:16-18; Rom. 10:8-10.

        b. Since lack of faith caused the fall then only faith can restore us back to God.

    4. The Christian life is lived by faith.

        a. 2 Cor. 5:7; Romans 1:17 (Hab. 2:4; Gal. 2:20; 3:11; Heb. 10:38).

        b. Once we have been restored to God then we must continue in living by faith.

III. Faith and Prayer.

    5. Our prayers cannot be answered apart from faith.

        a. Matt. 21:22; James 1:6-7.

        b. Faith maintains our Christian life. Prayer activates faith.

IV. Other important aspects of faith.

    6. Our enemies cannot be overcome without it.

        a. 1 Pet. 5:8-9; Eph. 6:10-12, 16; 1 Tim. 6:12.

        b. The devil fights against your faith. You win your spiritual battles through faith.

    7. All things in the Christian life are possible through faith.

        a. Mark 9:23 (Eph 1:3; 2 Pet. 1:3; 1 Cor. 3:21-22).

        b. Nothing is impossible to God. You can appropriate the power of omnipotence through faith.

CONCLUSION: The scriptures are clear as to the importance of faith. If we are going to be victorious in this life, we will not do it apart from faith. It is the KEY that unlocks all of the treasures of heaven on our behalf. We must learn to walk in faith.
