Lesson Ten: Importance Of Bible Study
I. What is Bible Study?
1. According to Webster's Collegiate Thesaurus, the English words related to study are: contemplation, weighing, abstraction, MEDITATION, musing, pondering, rumination.
2. The Bible is God's Word. It reveals God's will and plan to us. It gives us the knowledge and reveals to us our ability to live the Christian life as well as life in general.

II. The purpose of Bible Study.
1. To renew the mind.
a. Rom. 12:1-2; Eph. 4:22-23; 1 Cor. 2:14; Rom. 8:5-7; James 1:21; Phil. 4:8
2. To produce faith.
a. Rom. 10:17; Prov. 4:20-22
3. For dealing with the devil.
a. Matt. 4:1-11; Eph. 6:17; 1 John 2:14; 2 Cor. 10:3-5
III. Eight blessings of Bible Study (Part 1)
1. Prosperity - Josh. 1:7-8; Ps. 1:3
2. Success - Josh. 1:8
3. Blessing - Psalm 1:1; James 1:25
4. A firm foundation - Ps. 1:3
IV. Eight blessings of Bible Study (Part 2)
1. Fruit - Ps. 1:3; John 15:1-7
a. Another word for fruit can be "results".
2. No withering - Ps. 1:3
a. You'll never backslide or dry up from as you water yourself with the word.
3. Understanding - Ps. 119:27
4. Wisdom above enemies and teachers - Ps. 119:97-99
CONCLUSION: After studying this lesson you should now see that Bible study is not an area to be neglected. It is essential to your spiritual life and your physical well being. The next lesson will show you HOW to study the Bible. But we feel that before you learn the HOW, you should know the WHY. It is important and will benefit you greatly.
